How | a Habits Tracker | changed my life & Giveaway

Since opening Ella Iconic I have been somewhat neglecting a particular part of my life.
Running a business, especially a start up takes time, effort, dedication and tons of work. All you entrepreneurs and girl bosses, you will know exactly what I mean! Simply put, I have let it to completely take over my life. Partly due to the amount of work I have to do on a daily basis, partly down to the fact that I just simply adore what I do.
It is ironic since I created the CEO OF MY OWN LIFE® planner exactly for the opposite purpose! I wanted to be in control and organised in every area of my life, - but I am only human and learning as I go just like everyone else.
At the start of 2017, I completed "My Master Plan" section in my daily 2017 CEO OF MY OWN LIFE® planner and under "Health & Fitness" I wrote down:
"Time to get to grips with my fitness regime | get fit & healthy."
My ultimate goal is to ensure that fitness becomes a regular part of my life. Working out does not come naturally to me, not something I crave at the end of the day (at least not yet!). This means I need to plan and push myself. I was pretty good at this fitness thing a couple of years back but then it sort of faded away and I really want it back in my life. I love the feeling of being in control, the energy it gives me and knowing that I am taking care of my body and soul.
While I really tried to schedule gym sessions in my planner, sadly most of the items in this section I just ignored. Finding an excuse to reschedule a workout was only too easy to come up with. So I have made a decision to make a change to my planning routine by introducing - intentional habits tracking.
BENEFITS OF A HABITS TRACKER
Since I have received samples of the new weekly and undated CEO OF MY OWN LIFE ® planner, I have switched my daily for weekly, - not only to test it as a product but also due to the fact that weekly editions are filled with lots of new and exciting planning tools, habits tracker being one of them. Yay!
I have decided to use the habits tracker to monitor my progress and as a motivational tool as well. All I can say it has changed my life! I am nearly a couple months in and this is what I love about it:
- It keeps me accountable
- I feel motivated by seeing more and more shaded boxes (more on that below)
- My fitness is improving as I am really pushing myself to ensure I stick to at least a couple of my goal reaching steps every single day.
In my new planner I filled in one of the "Habits Themes": Get My Fitness Back on Track.
I have written down the steps I need to take to reach my fitness goals and every evening I sit down and evaluate my progress. I shade a box in if I had a workout, stuck to my eating plan etc. and leave it blank if I have not. I know a lot of people use bullet journalling for this, but I like that I don't have to draw boxes each month as the planner has them already.
Since using the habits tracker for my fitness and seeing the benefit of it, I have introduced it to other areas of my life, - such as:
- Personal Growth, where I track my meditating, relaxing and writing schedule.
- Business Growth, - where I keep an eye on social media posts, blogs and other business related items.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNED?
I can be successful at reaching my goals if I am committed, focus on it daily and am completely honest with myself. But this I mean, if my workout was really below par, I would only shade in half a box, - so I know I have done something, but also as a reminder that my next session needs a bit of a push.
I am overjoyed that such a small change in my planning behaviour is having such a positive effect on my well being and life in general.
Since starting my fitness journey, I am already noticing my energy levels souring, I am having 'me' time which is good for the soul and I am feeling back in control.
It is said that if you do something for 30 days it can become a habit, - do I feel like I am there? If honestly, no. I still need to push myself but I know I can get there in time. For now I will continue to use the habits tracker as I find it as a great motivational tool and it keeps me on the right track.
