In today’s post we will cover how to plan and organise your week/day in three different ways to suit your lifestyle using your CEO of My Own Life® planner. I will walk you through the weekly and daily pages sharing useful tips how to use them effectively and establish a good planning routine.
Before we start, I would like to say this, use your planner to fit your life. May it be your motivator, an assistant, a helpful tool to reach your goals and be better organised this year. Adapt it to your way of planning which will ensure you get the most benefit and pleasure out of it.
The CEO of My Own Life® planner provides a good planning structure, but it also allows for total flexibility for you to use how you like it.
How to Effectively Plan Your Week & Day - using Your Weekly Planner
Planning your week
- Before you do anything, take a look at your current month's Master Plan and evaluate your progress:
- At the start of each week write down your overall top to dos in the 'Top Priorities' section. One to three items that are important for this week.
- Identify your absolute must dos for the week ahead and write them down in the 'Do Not Forget' box. These items should be treated as ‘must do - no matter what’.
- Organise your other weekly to dos by type and fill in sections: business & career | home & family | health & fitness | you.
- Also jot down memorable events as they happen and what you are grateful for in the 'Memories To Cherish' section.
Planning your day
This is where you get to choose how you would like to use the daily schedule.
There are three different ways to use the daily schedule, - see the image above for inspiration.
1. Plan your entire day
Using this option, you can use the schedule to organise and plan your entire day by:
- add appointments (meetings, client calls etc.)
- shade/highlight time slots for activities you plan to be doing (focus on work, admin, emails, be outside, relax, workout etc.)
- Track daily to dos
2. Use for appointments only
This option works well for someone who has a lot of daily meetings, be it in the corporate setting or as an entrepreneur.
Organise your weekly to dos using our core planning sections provided: business & career | home & family | health & fitness | personal.
3. Use for daily to dos only
Love making lists? If you are of those people who rarely has meetings to attend, but has a million and one to dos, utilise the daily schedule for that purpose.
How to Effectively Plan Your Week & Day - using Your Daily Planner
Planning your week
Before you do anything, take a look at your current month's Master Plan and evaluate your progress:
- Are you on the right track?
- Have your circumstances changed affecting your overall annual goals, therefore requiring an update?
- Do you need to up your game?
- Do you need to add new goals to the list?
Planning your day
- Firstly set a positive tone for the day ahead in the 'Mantra For Today' section. Add you favourite quote, word, draw, doodle, - anything you like!
- Write down top priorities for the day ahead, - your must dos.
- Organise your other daily to dos by type and fill in sections: business & career | home & family | health & fitness | you. Do not feel the pressure to have each box filled to the max!
When it comes to the 5am - 11pm schedule, pick what works for you:
1. Plan your entire day
- schedule appointments (meetings, client calls etc.)
- shade/highlight time slots for activities you plan to be doing (focus on work, admin, emails, be outside etc.)
- use the core planning sections on the right for your daily to dos.
2. Use for appointments only
- If your typical day is full of meetings and appointments then use this space as a schedule only.
As mentioned before, while the CEO of My Own Life® planner provides a clear planning structure, you can adapt it to suit your life. Experiment and find what works well for you. Most importantly use your planner daily to get the most benefit from it.
